This is the moment an out-of-control car smashed into a gold shop after its driver mistook the accelerator for the brake.

Shocking CCTV footage shows the vehicle ramming straight into the shopfront, breaking through the glass wall in Surat Thani province on April 14.

Another clip taken from inside the business shows how the white sedan was just inches away from hitting the shop owner who was sitting behind the counter.

A female driver then was seen climbing out from the passenger’s seat while shouting for help.

Talking to rescuers, the shaken driver said: ‘I mistakenly pushed the gas instead of the brakes which caused my car to swerve and smash the shop.’

She had a minor head injury while the shop owner had small cuts from the broken glass pieces during the collision.

The driver promised to pay for the damages incurred on the gold shop after apologising to the owner.
