Six teenagers from India's Andhra Pradesh swam from Sri Lanka to India in an attempt to break existing speed records, on Saturday 23 April.

The six got permission from both governments to cross the 29km (18 mile) Palk Strait and began their swim at 1am.

They reached Rameshwaram in India's Tamil Nadu at around 10:30am, breaking the existing speed record.

They were welcomed with garlands and bouquets.
