A resident of West Sumatra Province in Indonesia thought he was losing his mind recently when he spotted what appeared to be a headless lizard in his bathroom.

On closer inspection, Wayu Lelo realised he was in fact looking at the tail-end of the gecko with the reptile's head poking out the other side of the space between the door and the frame.

Lizards often discard their tails when they feel threatened.

The clip was filmed in Bukittinggi on April 23.

Gecko caught in the bathroom door of a house in Indonesia.

Initially discovered by the householder that night, the gecko was caught between the doors. When it moved it looked headless, maybe broken when it pinched.

When viewed closely, it turns out that the broken part of the tail is usually done when geckos feel threatened.

"There was liquid on the wall near the tail, but I didn't find the broken tail on the floor. I opened the door and found the head of the gecko on the other side," Wahyu Lelo, the filmer added.

Luckily, the gecko was caught in the loose part of the door so that when the door opened wide the gecko free again.
