Two brave cops risked their own lives to rescue six people, who were struck, after a massive fire broke out at a residential building in northern India’s Rajasthan.

The incident took place in Vidyadhar Nagar locality in Jaipur city of the eponymous district on April 23.

Visuals showed two cops helping a woman get out of a burning building. One of the cops held the hand of the woman when she was getting out while the other one was helping her get down. He then held her hand and assisted her out of that place. A larger number of people had gathered at the scene of the incident. Black smoke was seen covering the whole sky. There was smoke everywhere, which made it difficult for people to see things around. A crane was also seen at the site to save people.

Another visual showed a few people coming down from the building with the help of a ladder. A third visual showed a crane being parked close to the building.

Reports identified the two policemen as Constables Ashok Kumar and Mahesh Choudhary.

Speaking to Newslions, Constable Ashok Kumar said the building that caught fire had three floors, the basement of which was a shoe warehouse. The building had around 37 flats. Five people from flat number 203 and a person from flat number 410 were rescued. Among the six were three women, a child, and two men.

He said that the chemical present inside the warehouse led the fire to spread.

Kumar added that an FIR has been registered against the shoe company.
