The floor of England's second oldest Cathedral - Rochester Cathedral in Kent, UK - has been covered in 5,000 metal leaves with the word 'Hope' written on them as part of an art installation called “The Leaves of the Trees” by sculptor Peter Walker.

Footage filmed today (April 26 ) shows the impressive display of metal leaves carpeting the floor of the Cathedral's Quire.

The leaves are a reflective memorial to the coronavirus pandemic and symbolise the past but also hope for the future.

The shape of the sycamore maple leaf was chosen because it symbolises strength, protection, eternity and clarity.

The art installation is on display until May 22.
