Firefighters in Upper Augusta and surrounding areas were alerted for reports of an auto accident with unknown injures at the intersection of State route 890 and Route 61. As units began to respond they were advised of a reported tractor trailer vs a passenger vehicle with several injures possible. Units began to arrive and found heavy entrapment on the passenger vehicle and extra resources were requested. Crews were able to free those trapped and have the vehicle clear in under a half hour but sadly one victim passed away. The road remained closed til almost 1pm before reopening.
