A quick-thinking pedestrian leapt away from an out-of-control pickup truck as it crashed just inches away from him.

The resident carrying a bag of food was waiting to cross a road in Roi Et province, Thailand on April 24. He then moved away from the vehicle as it skidded towards a stoplight and flipped over to the opposite lane.

He escaped the incident unscathed but the driver Yad Thaweesuk, 38, and his three passengers were all hurt.

The injured family were rushed to the hospital after being pulled out by rescuers from their badly-damaged truck. They are now recovering.

Motorist Dunghathai Nuttiyakul who was waiting for the red light when it happened said: ‘The pedestrian could have been ran over as he stood right on the spot where the truck was crashing towards, but he moved so fast and saved himself.’

He added that the injured driver reportedly had a road trip with his family members when he lost control of the vehicle after suddenly pulling the brakes.

Duangthai said: ‘The driver was on a road trip with family. He did not see that the traffic was at a red light and was driving fast so he lost control when he pulled the brakes.’

The injured motorists were recovering at the hospital and are now in stable condition.
