Real-time northern lights dancing over a frozen lake here in Fairbanks, Alaska!

This little clip shows the auroras dancing in real-time over our lake here in North Pole, just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska! It was a bright expansion phase aurora on a relatively quiet night! Thankfully spring has gave us some really nice auroras before midnight sun sets in. This happened around 1:30AM and featured a south-sky aurora which are generally brighter and only happen on nights with increased solar activity. We had a small CME (solar flare) hitting but it had been really quiet up until this point! Thankfully we stayed awake to watch them dance around the sky! Auroras are difficult to record in real-time and require super sensitive low light cameras. Most aurora footage is shot as a time lapse given the difficulty of real time! Thankfully, I have a camera specifically to record video of auroras, and I was very much in the right place at the right time!
