A little girl was rescued after getting her finger stuck in the hole of her family's gate latch.

The curious five-year-old was playing in their front yard in Chiang Mai province, Thailand when she was heard crying by her parents on April 26.

She was shouting for help as she struggled to pull her tiny finger from the latch of the gate after she put it in while playing alone.

Her parents called the local rescue team for help and cut the bolt using a grinder while her mother comforted her as she cried.

The girl’s terrified mother said: ‘We were cleaning the house and she was playing in the garage. We thought she would be safe there but we were wrong. We heard her crying loudly so we went out and saw her finger was stuck on the gate.’

Rescue volunteers used a file and grinder to cut through the thick metal and widen the hole.

After half an hour, the girl’s finger was freed. Her light wounds were treated with first aid but she was generally fine.
