Hunting for Crooked Beaks (Parrot/Black-Headed Kasturi) in a Village in Indonesia is getting crazier

In Indonesia itself there are several types of parrots that are famous and also live in the wild, where there are also some that have entered the category of birds that are endangered.
Regions in Indonesia that are often found with parrots are the islands of Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua. Until now, there are about 18 species of parrots that are included in the protected bird category.

In a village in Indonesia, to be precise in the village of Sailolof, Sorong, Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua Province. From their confession, the birds are usually collected up to tens to hundreds of tails and then sold to bird lovers (parrots). Usually the residents sell it to crew members or visitors in the area. The price per head is usually traded at a price of Rp. 200,000, - to Rp. 750,000, - depending on the type and size.
According to local residents, the hunting and selling activities of Kasturi or red-headed parrots have re-emerged since the beginning of the COVID-19 2020 pandemic.
