Teak wood, of almost Rs 30 lakhs (USD 39,249.139), was recovered from being smuggled, in eastern India's West Bengal.

Police from Kumargram Police Station's Barobisha Outpost in Alipurduar district recovered large quantities of the valuable wood with the help of a tip-off on April 30.

Visuals shot at the Barobisha Police Outpost on May 1, showed the recovered wood.

The wood was recovered and seized while conducting a checking at Pakariguri, a place on the Assam-Bengal border.

The 16-wheeler truck, that carried the 450 CFT teak, had a number plate from Jharkhand.

All the wood was craftily covered with jute, to give out the impression that it was transporting the latter. But it was discovered by the police as soon as they stopped the vehicle and started checking it.

Rameshwar Hazam, the driver of the vehicle, who is a resident of Jharkhand, has been arrested.
