Hero policeman performs CPR on injured stray dog following suspected hit and run
A heroic policeman performed CPR on a stray dog to save her after a suspected hit and run.
Lieutenant Colonel Lak Rattanathaworn was patrolling the area when he found the one-year-old female brown pooch lying on a road in Sukhothai province, Thailand on April 26.
The animal-loving cop rushed from the car and checked the pooch, who was still breathing then but appeared unconscious in a pool of blood.
He quickly performed CPR on the animal in a bid to resuscitate it before rushing the dog to a veterinary clinic once it had a stronger heart rate after five minutes.
The officer said: ‘I felt so sorry for the dog. She was still breathing but very weak. I was hoping she would survive if I performed CPR and she did. She was a lucky pooch.’
Vets treated the brown Aspin breed of dog in the clinic and found that she had a broken jaw. Further treatment plans had to be done to ensure her health but she was in stable condition now.
A restaurant owner Srisuda Chaiwongsriarun, 59, heard about the dog and volunteered to adopt her and shoulder her medical treatment expenses. She named the pooch Chao Boonrawd and is now living with her.
Srisuda said: 'Every life is special, including dogs. I will take care of her and give her a good life.'
