This is the breathtaking moment two wild elephants stopped cars to cross a road in Thailand.

Footage shows the jumbos slowly walking across a rural road in the Khao Yai national park in Nakhon Ratchasima province while officers kept vehicles at a distance to prevent the animals from being startled on April 27.

Onlooker Tanongsak Jangin, 43, said: 'The elephants walked together across the road. I thought they both looked very cute.'

Wildlife rangers tracking the pair of elephants said that they wandered off back into the dense forest.

Elephants are the national animal of Thailand. An estimated 2,000 elephants are living in the wild and a similar number in captivity.
