Injured loris stuck on top of motorway lamppost rescued
This is the heartwarming moment an injured loris stuck on top of a motorway lamppost was rescued in Thailand.
Concerned drivers called the emergency servives after spotting the wild animal trapped on top of the streetlight in Nakhon Si Thammarat, southern Thailand, on May 2.
Upon arrival, the rescue team had to call for a cherry picker as the loris had climbed the nearly 50ft high (15-metres) pole.
Animal specialist Suppachai Wetpitak reached for the animal with protective gloves and carried it down to safety.
The loris had burn marks all over its body. Specialists believe that its wounds were caused by clinging to the highly conductive metal post for hours as the harsh summer heat in Thailand reached 35 degrees Celsius.
Suppachai said: ‘Loris are small animals and it can be difficult to spot them from a distance. When we carried her down, she kept on licking her fur as the heat had burned several parts of her body.
‘The loris bit me while I was trying to carry it down but I did not give up. We believe it climbed up the post because it was running away from something.’
