A hiker captured this spectacular real-time clip of the Northern Lights in the skies above Alaska on April 30.

"The auroras came out late after the sun finally set and danced around for about an hour," said the filmer, Andy Witteman.

"I recorded this in real-time south of Fairbanks, Alaska on the Tanana River," he added.

It was a big surprise to see an aurora like this so late in the season; I always love seeing reflections like this on the river but the long days of summer are close so the opportunities for auroras like this are very limited!
