A thief reportedly used an unidentified ‘high tech gadget’ to effortlessly crack open a car window and steal a bag with valuables.

The incident occurred at Samalkha town near Panipat in northern India on May 1.

A CCTV camera at a local restaurant filmed the thief standing with his back near the rear quarter window of the car. Shielding his left hand behind his back, he touches the window with the gadget. The glass crumbles and he picks up a bag kept inside before walking away.

The victim, Manoj, a local businessman, who had parked his car in front of the restaurant, filed a complaint with the police. He said he had kept a gold ring, expensive medicines and some cash inside the bag.

Local police said they were baffled by the ease with which the thief broke the window and were curious about his modus operandi. A team has been formed to nab him.
