Farmer finds 11.88-carat diamond worth $65,596 while mining in central India

A farmer found a piece of diamond worth USD 65,596 while working at a mine in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place on May 4 in the Panna district where Pratap Singh Yadav stumbled upon an 11.88-carat diamond. He found it from a mine in the Patti area.

Yadav, a farmer by profession, who also works as a labourer, submitted the jewel to the authorities.

According to a report, the diamond would be put up in the auction and the proceeds from it would be given to Yadav, after deduction of the government taxes.

The price of the diamond is estimated to be more than Rs 50 lakhs (USD 65,596).

It has been learnt that Yadav will set up a business and fund his children's education using the money.
