Popular tourist attraction deserted due to COVID-19 in China despite free entry
A popular tourist destination in eastern China was deserted due to COVID-19.
Video filmed in Yellow Mountain Scenic Spot in Anhui Province on May 1 shows only a few tourists at Yellow Mountain.
According to a tourist named Wen, tourists from other cities had to quarantine at the foot of Yellow Mountain for two days and be tested twice so most people did not bother to come.
Nearby hotels, restaurants and shops all closed and local tour guides have changed their jobs to do live streaming online.
Although the scenic spot gave free entry and half-price tickets for the cableway and hotel rooms on the top of mountain to local residents, the number of tourists dropped by 80 percent.
