An elephant with an amputated leg was spotted in Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa Province on May 4. The incident took place at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home.

Visuals feature the elephant roaming in the region. It plays around with a prosthetic leg-like object, following which other jumbos approach it, and the transit home workers drive the lot away.

According to reports, the four-year-old elephant, known as Namal, was found caught in a hunter's snare in the Ampara jungles in 2012. Following this, it was rescued, and veterinarian Dr. Vijitha amputated its back leg, saving its life.
