A 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Patron has captured the hearts of Ukrainians and the wider world as he works for cheese in exchange for sniffing out mines and other unexploded weapons left behind by Russian soldiers.

Patron was professionally trained by cynologists In order to find mines and other missiles left behind by Russian forces by quickly and correctly identifying the smell of gunpowder. When he sniffs it out he immediately gives a signal.

Here the extremely good boy meets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskhy and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as he receives a state award "For Dedicated Service" on May 8 in this pool footage.
