Popular tourist attraction, Pacu Jawi (cow racing) is held to entertain travelers celebrating Eid al-Fitr in their villages in Indonesia.

Footage filmed on May 7 shows farmers getting dragged by their cows for an extreme sporting event in Tanahdatar, West Sumatra province.

Drone footage shows some of them the jockeys end up in the mud, in others they make it to the finish line.

The jockeys also use some unusual ways to make the cow run faster, such as biting its tail to speed through a muddy field. They barely make it to the end. In many cases the jockey fall off, getting thrown right into the mud.

Although described as a race, the bulls do not directly compete against each other and no formal winner is announced.

This tradition, which has been around for hundreds of years is usually takes place to celebrate the end of the rice harvest season, but now it held as a tourist event to entertain locals who had not returned home to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in their village for 2 years due to restrictions during the covid-19 pandemic.
