Residents in eastern China share their concerns as COVID-19 workers in hazmat suits were dousing homes with disinfectant.

Video filmed in the city of Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province on May 7 shows pandemic workers in protective clothing spraying disinfectant and taking food out of the fridge in a COVID-19 patient's flat.

A netizen said that they found the food that was thrown on the floor crawling with maggots when they returned home after quarantine.

Netizens were worried that their electric appliances might be damaged by the liquid.

A member of staff at Suining County's Propaganda Department said the action was based on local's anti-pandemic policies. The process followed experts' guidance and requirements.

The food in the fridge has been disposed of as required but they have compensated the food to the residents as well as given a bag of disinfectant items to them as a gift.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
