A Manchester-based tattoo artist has left Instagram users in stitches after giving a member of the public an instant six-pack for free.

Dean Gunther, 34, originally from Bellville, South Africa, moved to the UK five years ago and opened his own studio in Greater Manchester called DG Tattoo art.

He started inking people when he was just 21 years old and has always looked for ways to help his patrons and the local community.

Now, he's made one man's dreams come true after giving him a 'six-pack' that didn't require any time in the gym or dietary changes.

“I feel there's so much negative in the world and people could do with a laugh," Dean said.

"I've been wanting to do this for years."

Dean put out a call on social media that he wanted to do the unique ink on someone and that he would do it for free, as he knew it wasn’t the "sort of thing you got to do everyday".

A fan named Sebastian reached out and spent 10 hours in the chair getting the coveted washboard abs.

Dean said: “The idea made me laugh and because I specialise in colour realism tattoos, I thought I could do a pretty decent job of it as well as having a lot of fun while creating this piece.

“I met Sebastian and he could see the humour in this just as much as I did, so we went ahead and got the tattoo!

“It was very challenging. Not so much creating the tattoo, that was pretty straight-forward, but getting him to sit for two consecutive days and push through the pain was the hard bit.

“We were one hour into the first day and he got up saying it's too much and he's gonna have to leave it.

"I don't blame him. I had my stomach tattooed before and it was excruciating.

“We took much-needed breaks, loaded up on snacks and sugar to help him get through the tattoo and he managed to push through in the end!

"Well done man!”

Dean, who shared the hilarious clip with his 17.3k followers on Instagram (@dean.gunther), was keen to show footage of himself working on Sebastian's stomach to prove its authenticity – and it has left social media users stunned.

Reacting to the clip on Instagram Reels, where the video has already had over 47,000 views, one user said: “Bruh, that’s for life”

Someone else commented: “Great work, horrible idea.”

Other users were convinced the tattoo was a fake, with a fourth person writing: “Can’t be real.”

Dean added: “You will notice the colour is much darker than his natural skin tone, as he's very pale.

"I think it made it even funnier to have a tanned six-pack and to make it stand out really prominent.

“The colour will settle and go slightly lighter once healed.

"I did want to smooth out the edges around the tattoo but there was no way as he was in too much pain by that time.”

The artist laughed off the suggestion that Sebastian was "struggling in the gym" and it was more about having a laugh – and creating a "great conversation starter".

The clip has also recieved almost a million views on TikTok.

Dean added: "I do have some funny and outrageous ideas. The question is, will people be willing to get them tattooed?”

“I guess they will have to message me to find out what crazy ideas I might come up with.

“All jokes aside, if I can do tattoos to help someone, then I'll go out of my way to help them.

"I've covered countless self-harm scars, stretch marks, covered ex-partners names and even nipples for women who had a mastectomy.

“Nothing brings me more satisfaction than doing a tattoo for someone and watching their face light up when they look at it.

"That makes me happy. Next!”
