Climate change caused water to leak out of the Shashipar Glacier. 10,000 cusecs of water completely destroyed 6 houses in Hassanabad village. A bridge on the Karakoram Highway was also submerged and completely destroyed by the discharge of water from the glacier.
With the collapse of the bridge, the 30,000 population of Hunza district was cut off from the rest of the country. The floods also completely destroyed clean water lines in Hunza district. The provincial government and administration also visited the area but despite the passage of 5 days, the bridge has not been rebuilt, the road has been rehabilitated and clean water has not been restored. There has been a shortage of petroleum products and food items in Hunza district for the last five days
