A playful Siberian Husky escaped from his owner to crash a football match in Thailand.

The pooch, which lives near the sports field, crashed the youngsters' ball game during an event at Lan Krabue stadium in Kamphaeng Phet province on May 5.

He reportedly escaped from home after hearing the cheers from the audience, and excitedly joined in on the players' fun.

Thinking he was part of the competition, the delighted dog persistently chased after the ball even as the youngsters tried to carry on with the match. He would take the ball or chase the player who had it, so the game was suspended for 30 minutes while residents were informed about the Husky's escape.

He was earlier tricked by one of the players to leave the field, but returned ten minutes later until the organizers decided to call the dog’s owner.

Despite the delays, local officials said the friendly canine added more enjoyment to the day's festivities.

Mayor Rangsan Juduang said: ‘The dog was a welcome surprise to our game. This game was supposed to be for the children, as a reminder to give importance to exercise and avoid drugs. It was even more memorable because of our special guest.’

The dog was not allowed to participate further, but was allowed to watch the game from afar while on a leash.
