A stray cat was rescued after getting stuck at the bottom of a sewer.

The moggie fell down the drain and had been lost underground for at least two hours until residents heard it crying from underground in Chonburi province, eastern Thailand, on May 9.

Rescue volunteers were called to the scene and created a hole on the tiled floor to reach the cat. However, the spot where they pierced an opening was too far from the stray’s exact location.

To push the cat into the spot, fire officers brought their truck and spouted water into the drain to help give the cat a push.

Volunteer Yotin Vayovisad said: 'We believe its mother left it walking on the roof. The poor kitten must have slipped and fell in the drain, I'm just glad that she's well and safe.'

Soon after, the kitten came out of the flooded pipe and was carried up to safety using rescue tongs.

They cleaned the cat as it was soaked in dirty water before it was fed after being found unhurt. It was adopted by one of the residents who helped with the rescue operation.
