A group of rude middle-aged women angrily drove away children taking skating lessons in a public square in China.

Footage shows the Far Eastern 'Karens' apparently throwing a tantrum in front of the youngsters, hurling traffic cones and barricading a section of the public space in Nan'an District, Chongqing on May 11 despite the kids reportedly arriving there before them.

District authorities said they have been notified about the event and are now calling the relevant parties to explain.

Communal dancing is believed to be a way to combat stress, socialise, and improve health, and is often practised by China's older population, especially women.

However, the 'dancing aunties' - a common sight in public parks and squares in China - have drawn divided opinions among the locals, with some believing they tend to overstep their boundaries and disturb the peace.

Residents have complained of the dancers often blaring music to the frustration of neighbours, and taking up too much space while shimmying in inappropriate places like railroad tracks or highways.
