This is the horrifying moment a killer crocodile was seen dragging the body of a half-eaten fisherman through a river in Indonesia.

The hungry predator was caught on camera on May 10, holding in its jaws what appeared to be a mangled human body as it swam in the murky Ladongi River in East Kolaka Regency in Southeast Sulawesi.

Witnesses said the victim, a 60-year-old man named Wacalling, was fishing in the river when the reptile pounced on him and dragged him into the water.

They were helpless as the attack was all over within moments, with the crocodile easily overpowering the man. It later emerged on the surface still holding onto his lifeless body.

Onlookers said the reptilehad already bitten off one of Wacalling's arms.

Ari, the victim's neighbour, said: 'There were several people at the location when the grandfather was attacked by the crocodile, but they did not dare to help and approach the river.'

Villagers alerted the authorities in East Kolaka to inform them of the incident. They set out on rubber boats and carried out a search mission to retrieve Wacalling's corpse, but only found the body days later, on May 12 afternoon.

Wahyudi, Public Relations Officer of the Kendari SAR Agency, said: 'His body was found in an incomplete condition. It was found about two kilometers from where he was attacked by the crocodile.'
