This is the cute moment a carer at a sanctuary in Jerusalem gave an orphaned baby fruit bat a bath.

The tiny mammal lost his mother and is being hand-reared by staff at The Israeli Bat Sanctuary.

"In nature, a bat mother will lick her baby to bathe it and keep it clean. In this case, the human foster mom is giving this baby bat a nice relaxing warm bath," said the filmer.

"Notice the baby bat chirping during the bath, that's his unique call to his new mommy!" they added.

This little rescued bat is an orphaned fruit bat. He was rescued by The Israeli Bat Sanctuary after losing his mom. He is hand raised by his volunteer (human) fostermom, who carries, nurses and cares for him 24/7.
Bats are extremely clean, and are often found bathing themselves and other members of their colony, especially the weaker or older bats who struggle a bit more.
