An inflatable waterpark was slashed with a knife, sending tourists scrambling for help and flooding homes.

Parkgoers were enjoying splashing around in the large children’s floating playground when strong tides sucked them to the corner of the pool in Samut Prakan province, Thailand on May 15.

Footage shows swimmers resisting being dragged by the force of the water as they clung onto floats and inflatables in the water.

Another clip showed large volumes of water flowing through a street outside the fun park, leaving nearby homes flooded.

Sansanook waterpark’s owner Nathapong Pathaveesathian, 47, said: ‘A member of staff was contacted me by walkie-talkie saying the children’s pool had been damaged and water poured out of a leak.

‘We rushed there and found some were still playing in the water after the incident and no one was hurt. We apologise for what happened.

‘We were sabotaged. Someone with bad intentions did this.’

No one was hurt in the incident but the hole left irreparable damage to the park’s biggest rubber pool.

Affected residents reported the incident to police, as they thought that the water was intentionally discharged for its closure on May 17, but the owner told them otherwise.

Upon inspection, the park owner said the pool appeared to have been slit by a sharp object like a kitchen knife, which the park owner claimed to have been deliberately done to destroy his business.

The park owner added: ‘They want to destroy my business. My potential buyer of the park had already withdrawn our deal after what happened. Why are you angry at us?

‘Our pools were regularly inspected and tested so we make sure before opening that our equipment is working and safe. It can only happen if someone did it deliberately.’

Due to the incident, the park’s permanent closure became a day earlier on May 16.

The incident was reported to Samrong Neua police station which would handle the case and are currently looking for the person who allegedly vandalised the pool.
