An out-of-control truck lost two wheels while drifting to avoid crashing into vehicles.

The speeding pickup truck was approaching an intersection when its brakes failed in Lampang province, northern Thailand, on May 16.

Vehicles on the opposite side of the road were waiting at a red light - so the driver avoided a potentially deadly crash by spinning the wheel and pulling the handbrake to perform a 'drift' to slow his car down.

He narrowly missed the stopped vehicles but hit the concrete island, which caused to wheels to dislodge and roll down the road. The silver Toyota pickup truck continued grinding along the tarmac before coming to a stop.

Shocked resident Adul Kaney said: 'The crash happened outside my shop at the junction. I remember seeing everybody staring at the loose wheels rolling along the road.'

No one was reported seriously hurt. The driver agreed to pay for the damaged road signs while his car was towed to a repair shop.
