A dog was rescued after spending four days trapped down a 150-feet-deep well with a venomous viper in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

Locals had spotted the pooch stranded at the bottom of the well and had attempted to climb down. Upon seeing a deadly Russell's viper they abandoned plans to climb down.

The residents then called the Animal Rescue Society after four days had passed.

A team led by Akash Jadhav arrived on May 15 and a rescuer was lowered down into the well.

The dog was hoisted back up to the surface in a net before the rescuer and the viper were pulled back up.

Akash said: “Thanks to the water and soft mud inside the well, the dog survived the plunge. But it was totally stressed out due to the fall and the snake in the vicinity. I am glad we could rescue both of them.”

The dog was later released into a nearby village and the snake was released back into the wild.
