Emergency services tended to a 9-year-old boy that was found buried amongst the rubble of a destroyed building in Bakhmut, eastern Ukraine.

In footage captured on May 17 and supplied by the National Police of Ukraine, medics are seen asking the boy to "move his hand" as he was close to losing consciousness.

The boy was then transferred to an ambulance on a stretcher after being given painkillers. He is now in hospital receiving treatment for his wounds.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, governor of the Donetsk Oblast, claimed the city had been targeted by a Russian airstrike and a five-storey building was destroyed.

He added that one person was killed in the blast.

On May 17, the Russians launched a missile and bomb attack on the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. As a result of enemy shelling, a 9-year-old child was found under the rubble of a destroyed five-story building.He was rescued by employees of the State Emergency Service and law enforcement officers. The National Police of Ukraine reported that the child was seriously injured.

The footage shows that the boy was lying on a stretcher near the destroyed house. He was close to losing consciousness. The child was given an injection of painkillers.

"Do not lose consciousness, move the handle a little. Well done," one of the rescuers told him.After that, the boy was transferred to the ambulance.Now it is known about one dead as a result of the shelling of Bakhmut, at least two children were injured. The police, doctors and rescuers are working at the scene, the exact number of victims is being established.

"All rescue services are doing everything possible to sort out the rubble and save people as soon as possible," the statement said.
Local residents were once again urged to evacuate from the Donetsk region to safer regions.
