Clashes between students and police lead to brutal arrests during protests in Istanbul, Turkey, Wednesday (May 18).
In Istanbul, police attacked a memorial rally for Ibrahim Kaypakkaya and all revolutionaries killed in May, violently detaining people.
İbrahim Kaypakkaya, one of the youth movement leaders of the 1968 generation in Turkey and the founder of the armed TKP-ML organization, died as a result of torture in Diyarbakır Prison on May 18, 1973.
United Struggle Forces and many youth organizations wanted to commemorate Kaypakkaya in Istanbul. As a result of the police attack, many students were beaten and detained. The torture of the police continued in the detention vehicle.
