A rare sighting of a wild panda was caught on camera in a forest in northern China.

Video filmed in Taibai County in Shaanxi Province on May 18 shows a giant panda walking out of a stone cave in a forest.

The employees of the local forestry bureau encountered the panda and observed it for around 10 minutes until it walked away.

According to the fourth national investigation of giant pandas, there are around 80 wild pandas in Taibai County, and more than 20 of them are in the Huangbaiyuan Forest.

Giant Panda has been assessed for The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2016 and it is now listed as Vulnerable under criteria.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
