In a brazen attack, an unsuspecting man was assaulted and robbed by a group of miscreants at a railway station in western India's Maharashtra.

The incident took place at the Virar Railway Station of the eponymous city in the Palghar district on May 15.

Horrifying visuals, captured on a CCTV camera, showed three men going up using the escalator. On reaching the top they stopped and were gazing at the platform. Later, two more men were seen going up the escalator.

One of them started assaulting the other on the moving escalator. The other three men also started to hit the victim as they reached the top. They snatched a chain from his neck and a mobile phone as well.

The assaulters left the place soon after snatching the items. The victim was seen standing up.

According to reports, the miscreants robbed a gold chain and a mobile phone from a passenger after beating him up. This news has spread panic among the people traveling to the station at night.

Vasai Lohmarg police have registered a case in this regard and are in search of the thieves based on CCTV footage.
