Supporters of Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) demonstrated in front of the Singapore Embassy on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Setia Budi, South Jakarta on Friday, 20 May 2022 in the afternoon.
There are at least a hundred people who are members of the PP Shield group, the leadership of the Sarekat Islam Ideological Defense Center. They asked the Singapore government to apologize regarding the refusal to enter UAS into Singapore.
“Ustaz Abdul Somad is a scholar we love. Making us Muslims angry and disappointed, Ustaz Abdul Somad was deported," said the orator in front of the Singapore Embassy.
Demonstrators also brought a number of demonstration boards that read their demands.“Stop Islamophobia! Singapore immediately apologized to the Indonesian people. Don't harass our clerics," the board wrote. "Singapore is presumptuous of our clerics: UAS, if you don't apologize for breaking up diplomatic relations," read the sign carried by the demonstrators.
