Drivers stocked up on fuel as petrol prices surged in Thailand.

Footage shows how Motorists in Chiang Mai province queued up at fuel stations on May 18 to refill their tanks before authorities implemented a price hike on different types of petrol, including gasoline, gasohol 95, gasohol 91, E20, and E85.

They also filled up plastic bottles and gallon containers, trying to save some personal fuel reserves before the price increase takes effect at 5:00 am local time on May 19.

The drivers voiced their dismay at the higher petrol prices, saying these would also increase the prices of other basic goods such as food.

It comes amid a global rise in oil prices due to a combination of economic mismanagement and conflict in Ukraine.
