Stunning double-rainbow during rain shower in Kent, UK
A stunningly vivid double-rainbow appeared during a rain shower and sunshine late this afternoon (May 24) in Sheerness, Kent, UK.
Many parts of South East England have been experiencing thunderstorms and rain mixed with sunshine over the last few days.
A key feature of double rainbows is that the colour sequence in the second rainbow is reversed.
The dark band between the two rainbows is called Alexander's band (after Alexander of Aphrodisias who described it in 200AD).
