A dead whale shark washed ashore on Kincie Salido Beach, Nagari or Salido Village, District IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra.

The stranded sharks were immediately evacuated and buried by the Padang Coastal and Marine Resources Management Center (BPSPL).

"Earlier we had buried a dead whale shark that washed up on Kincie Salido Beach," said BPSPL Padang official, Maldi, Wednesday (25/052022).

He said the whale was 5.6 meters long and was buried by cutting off the shark's body.

"We had to cut the shark into several pieces because heavy equipment couldn't get into the location," he said.

According to him, the burial process must be carried out quickly, otherwise the shark carcass will rot and pollute the beach.

After cutting, the shark's body parts are rearranged according to their arrangement and immediately filled with soil.
