Large rat snake pulled out from behind water barrel in woman's house in Thailand
A large rat snake was pulled out from behind a water barrel after slithering into a woman's house in Thailand
The serpent emerged in the bathroom of Mattana Sawangsaeng's home without her noticing in Ang Thong province on May 20.
She was only alerted to the reptile's presence when her pet cat began hissing next to the bathroom door upon seeing the unwelcome intruder.
Alarmed, Mattana fled her house and called her neighbours for help. They brought out their tools, but the snake had already hidden itself behind a barrel where Mattana stored water.
They contacted animal rescuers to remove the scaly trespasser from her house.
Footage shows the brave snake wrangler pulling aside the water barrel to reveal the predator curled in the corner of the restroom. It was a sizeable rat snake measuring about 10 feet in length.
Since the animal was non-venomous, the female rescuer confidently grabbed it barehanded. It was seen struggling and trying to constrict the officer by wrapping around her midsection as she carried it out of the house. It was then placed inside a black garbage bag and later released away from the villagers' homes.
Mattana said: 'While I was in the house, I heard the noise of my cat trying to intimidate the snake next to the restroom door, so I decided to check the area and found the huge snake which later moved to hide near the water barrel.
'I called other villagers to help me but the snake did not come out so I later called the rescuers for help.'
