Sheerness town council in Kent 'cancels' Jubilee bunting after NOISE complaints

Sheerness town council in Kent has 'cancelled' British flag bunting briefly hung up ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, after locals complained it was too loud.

Some residents living above shops in the town centre said the plastic flags' fluttering was excessively noisy, so instead the council has donated it to shops to hang in their windows instead.

This unexpected turn of events has puzzled some residents, as the 120-year-old clock tower has been extensively restored 'just in time' for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, and that bunting normally surrounds the town clock every summer.

Footage shot in Sheerness town centre at lunchtime on Wednesday 25 May, showed the newly-restored clock and a town square empty of the now-removed bunting.

The video includes footage from Fusion Festival, held last year, where bunting can be seen above the town centre's streets, and the clock is in its old colours.
