This is the shocking moment a train crashed into a minibus while it was driving over a level crossing in Indonesia.

The locomotive carrying hundreds of passengers was travelling past a village when the red people carrier tried to accelerate across the tracks on Sunday, May 22.

A rail worker spotted the danger and was heard screaming to warn the car driver of the impending collision. However, the motorsist continued before being hit and screaming while dragged 50 metres by the slow-moving train.

Officials said there were no casualties reported among the train's 61 passengers. The injured minibus driver, identified as Mas'ud, was travelling alone and has been taken to the hospital.

Krisbiyantoro, public relations manager of railway operator PT KAI - Daop 4 in Semarang, said: 'The car was successfully removed by the train crew and local residents. The incident happened at 15.25. The tourist train departed again from the location at 15.30 WIB.

'The route was cleared of debris and the train continued its journey to the Ambarawa station. All the passengers were safe.'

Investigators said the Ambarawa-Tuntang PP train was travelling from Tuntang towards Ambarawa in Indonesia's Semarang Regency when the accident happened.

They are now reviewing the safety measures on the crossing.
