Suspected 'cup and ball' scammer gang arrested on London's Westminster Bridge
Two suspected 'cup and ball' gang members were arrested by plain-clothes officers on London's Westminster Bridge on Friday 27 May.
'Cup and ball', also called 'three cups' scams trick unsuspecting punters, often tourists, into the false hope that they can win money by guessing which cup contains the ball. Participation is sometimes also coerced.
The bridge, popular with tourists, is notorious for such scammers, which police struggle to crack down on as the scammers often have accomplices, who act as lookouts.
