A baby elephant was rescued with a JCB digger after getting trapped in an abandoned well. Video shows the moment the young calf was saved by forest officials in Kandhamal, Odisha in eastern India. The four-year-old elephant was found lying in an abandoned stone well and unable to free itself this morning (27/5). Luckily, forest officials were quick to the scene and managed to free the elephant - using a JCB machine. The team gathered around the entrance to the well as a digger dragged dirt away to allow the calf to climb up and to safety. The rescue mission took four hours. But, at the end, the calf could be seen wandering off into the distance, seemingly uninjured. It is believed the elephant had fallen into the well when it came to eat pineapple the night before (26/5).
