Former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar emerged as the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the People Democratic party. Abubakar who led with 371 votes while his top contender, River State Governor, Nyesom Wike got 237 votes, also the Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki had 70 votes among others.
Jubilation filled Velodrome the venue where the election was held in Abuja, early hour of Sunday morning after the announcement of the emerged Candidate of the Party.
The announcement of his emergence was disclosed by the Chairman, National Convention Organizing Committee, Senator David Mark.
In his acceptance speech, the elected flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar appreciated the delegate and Governors of the party for believing on his capacity. Abubakar pledged to unify the country, added that Nigeria needs unity at this critical time because the APC Government has dis-unify the country. He assured other contestant that he will not fail them.
