A doctor who went missing for 20 days was found with his alleged mistress in a hotel room in Indonesia.

Faisal Kanang, 42, had been delivering aid to flood victims in Tolitoli Regency on May 6 evening and was on his way to Kapas Village to distribute donations but he never arrived.

After receiving reports from residents about an abandoned motorcycle, officers found his motorbike with its engine still running near the edge of a cliff in Lingadan Village, some 30 kilometres away from his residence. Among the belongings he left behind were a pair of sandals, identification cards, a jacket, a helmet, and an empty black sling bag.

Faisal's sudden disappearance devastated his family and sparked a frenzied search by authorities. Dozens of joint teams from the police, the army, and the search and rescue agency scoured the area for the missing doctor for several days. They also deployed sniffer dogs to expedite the search.

Believing he may have been spirited away by a supernatural force haunting the place, his superstitious family even held a ritual near the large rock where his motorcycle was discovered.

Nearly three weeks after he vanished, Faisal was finally found healthy, safe, and sound - not abducted by a demonic entity, but instead accompanied by a woman named Husniati Subaer who is believed to be his mistress. The pair were traced to an inn in Buol Regency in Central Sulawesi on May 26.

Faisal reportedly admitted that they lodged at the establishment while he was taking Husniati to Makassar City in South Sulawesi.

Adjunct Commissioner Anshari Tolah, public relations head of the Tolitoli Police, said: 'Dr. Faisal has been found, together with a woman and in good health. We took both of them to the police station for interrogation.'

Both are currently remanded in police custody while investigations are ongoing.
