In a 'race against time', iconic 120-year-old Sheerness clock-tower in Kent has been renovated over several months by specialists Smith of Derby, especially to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, at a cost of £160,000.

Engineers pulled out all the stops to get the cast iron time-piece re-assembled and back in position, wired-up and telling the correct time - and only just completed everything literally in the 'nick of time' - for this weekend's special celebrations.

Today (June 1) the last of the scaffolding and barriers were removed and at 9pm local time the clock face and hanging lanterns were illuminated and restored bell could be heard chiming loud and clear on the hour as captured in this footage.

New fabric bunting has now also appeared above the town's high streets after earlier plastic bunting had to be torn down due to noise complaints.
