A stunning waterspout appeared over the Songhua river in northern China.

The video filmed on May 31 shows a spectacular white column of water rising from the Songhua River in the distance. The whole process lasted about seven minutes. The waterspout gradually became thinner and eventually disappeared into the clouds.

Waterspouts usually occur above the sea or lakes. Such kinds of tornadoes can suck water up, forming a column of water all the way up into the clouds.

The video was filmed on May 31 in Tonghe, Heilongjiang Province, and provided by local media with permission.
