Flooding has drowned parts of Fenghuang, a historic Chinese town, after heavy rainfall in Hunan province.

The footage from June 1 shows a river overflowing with brown water, drowning the nearby houses in water and almost completely submerging stone bridge. No injury or casualty has been reported so far.

According to local media, the maximum rainfall reached up to 246.5 mm, leading to the flooding of the Tuojiang river.

The water flooded the houses along the river bank and also swept through many of the streets in the town itself.

It’s understood that most architecture in the town dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasty styles. The local population mainly belongs to the Miao or Tujia minorities.
